Converting Lofts and Attics County Cork
Loft conversions in County Cork take that unused roof space and transform it into a proper liveable room, whether that is a bedroom, a home office or an en-suite. The type of work involved really does depend on your roof type.
It is one of the most popular types of work our customers come to us for, and we genuinely love being part of these projects. We take care of everything from start to finish, including the initial prep work, scaffolding, carpentry, the roof itself where needed, and all the interior finishing such as flooring, plasterboarding, plumbing and electrics.
The main types of loft conversions are:
- Dormer – a structural box that projects out from the roof slope, giving you full standing height and proper windows
- Hip-to-Gable – pushing a sloping hipped side out to a vertical gable wall to create more usable volume, ideal for semi-detached and end-of-terrace homes
- Mansard – rebuilding one or both roof slopes to a near-vertical angle with a flat top, giving you the most space of all the types, though it often needs planning permission
- Velux / rooflight – leaving your existing roofline as it is and simply fitting windows into the slope where there is already enough headroom
- L-shaped – pairing a main rear dormer with a second dormer over the rear outrigger, which works a treat on period terrace properties
Whatever type of conversion suits your home, the work will typically cover structural changes to the roof, new floor joists, staircase installation, insulation that meets current building regulations and a full internal fit-out.
Alongside our loft converting services in County Cork, we are also happy to help with interior remodeling, rendering and plastering, structural wall work and a whole lot more.
