Load Bearing Wall Specialists County Cork
Every home has load bearing walls, sometimes there to support loads coming from above, and sometimes to spread those loads across an existing area over longer spans.
One of the most important things to sort out before you begin any remodelling work inside your home is knowing which walls are load bearing walls and which ones are not.
If you are remodelling the interior of your home and dreaming of a more open plan layout, there is a good chance you will need to remove a supporting wall. If that is the case, it will need reinforcing with a new load bearing RSJ beam.
Steel beam (RSJ) installation and load bearing wall removal are brilliant ways to open up internal space. A great example of this is opening up a ground floor layout by taking out a structural wall and transferring its load onto a steel beam. The work covers everything from the structural engineer’s calculations and building control approval, through to temporary support (Acrows and Strongboys) while the wall comes down, fitting the steel onto padstones, building in the beam, and making good the walls, floors and ceilings afterwards.
Steel beams are also widely used to create large openings for extensions, knock throughs and wide bi fold or sliding door openings.
